James' Big Day

My last weekly picture!
Here are some that didn't make the cut:

It was getting just about impossible to take these pictures.. so while I am sad to see them go, I am a little relieved. Ryan still would like for me to take weekly pictures.. but I think I need to stop.

Mrs. Dianne singing to James on his birthday. So sweet!

Deep thoughts about being one.

Yay! I am one!

We had fun in this photo shoot

At his birthday party with his Mimi

Aunt MaryAnn came! Yay!

James had a great time with everyone there!

He wasn't sure what to think of his cake. It was his first time having anything with sugar in it besides fruit or baby cookies.. and he was very delicate about it. I ended up pushing his hand in the cake, so he could have fun being messy.

I could get used to this!

Sugar Overload

Here are the latest things that James can do:
-When you ask him what a puppy dog says, he "woof woofs." He also will imitate what a cat says (with a squeal), what a fish says (putting his lips together to make a noise), what a duck says, and what a horse says (blowing air through his lips).
- When you ask him to point to different body parts, he can point to his hair, his ears, his eyes, his mouth, and his nose.
- He is starting to really follow directions, and it is amazing at how quickly he is learning! If you tell him to brush his teeth, he moves his finger up and down and makes the "brushing" noise. If you tell him to brush his hair, he will grab his brush and put it through his hair (what little bit he's got).  If you tell him to turn the light on/off, he will! He has also started to understand what "clean up" means and loves to put his bath toys up after a bath.
- He is saying "dada, mama, night night, hi, and pop"
- He waves for "bye" and "hi" and is VERY close to walking. He stands up by himself and has taken one or two steps, but he quickly plops down to crawling when he realizes what he is doing.
- He claps his hands and stomps his feet during songs like "Happy and You Know it" and "Row Row Row Your Boat."
- He signs "more," "go," and "all done."

There are probably so many things that I am forgetting, but he learns many things each day. It's amazing. It is really fun to see his little wheels turning inside his head. It is so fun being his mommy.

The next day at Kindermusik. My mom was able to come since they were in town, and she was able to take a lot of pictures.

James, the ladies' man

On our way to our 12 month doctor's visit.. and to get shots :(

Getting weighed and measured

Hey there! Don't look!

Waiting on the doctor

We love Dr. Jester!

After the shots. Poor baby

We went fishing later that afternoon, and our spirits were lifted! James loves his Pappy.

Gigi reading James' bedtime stories. His favorite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. He laughs and laughs at all of the animals and the cadence/rhythm of the words.

Ryan and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary and he surprised me with these gorgeous flowers! I love tulips, and he remembered to get me a bouquet that specifically had tulips. :)
