Moving on Up to 2 Months

In case you didn't already see on Facebook and Instagram...James is now 2 months old. Sorry if I am overloading everyone on James pics, but I really can't help it. I am obsessed I tell you, obsessed.

A lot has happened over the past month, developmental-wise. James is smiling, chuckling, squealing, turning his head to follow people or objects, lifting his head while lying down, and saying "Ahhh!" He is a very laid-back baby who only cries when he is extremely hungry or tired, and this is rare. He loves to hold on to your finger, and he is starting to like bath-time more. He is a good eater, and he is waking up once during the night to eat. James loves to be held, cuddled, and swaddled. He sometimes takes a pacifier, but he could take it or leave it. He loves to kick his legs a lot!
He is becoming a little stinker when it comes to tricking me into picking him up/holding him and giving him attention. He likes to fuss/fake cry when he wakes up from his nap early. I will go in his room to give him his pacifier (I am trying to teach him to self-soothe), and he will give me the cutest little smirk. I know that I shouldn't pick him up, but I just can't help myself sometimes.

We had a big day yesterday; we survived our 2 month check-up! I have been anxiously awaiting this check-up for several reasons: we get to see how he is doing growth-wise, I get to ask my poor pediatrician a million questions that I have been keeping track of on a legal pad (this is normal, right?), and I was nervous about the shots. The shots weren't as traumatic as I had expected by-the-way, and James is definitely a trooper. He screamed and cried, and his face turned red.. but as soon as I could pick him up to comfort him, he was fine. He is seriously an easy baby, and for this I am grateful.

James is ready to be weighed and measured

James now weighs 11 pounds (31st percentile), measures 23 inches (57th percentile), and his head circumferences is 16 inches (67th percentile). He is growing perfectly!

Cindy, James's grandmomie and Ryan's mom, was kind and awesome enough to come for a visit and help out. It is always so nice to have her, and she was a huge help!

Waiting for the Dr.

Afterwards, Cindy treated us to lunch out at Farmhaus. They have the best hamburgers. If I wasn't concerned about having a heart attack, I could eat there everyday. It was James's first lunch in a restaurant! He did great, and I think he enjoyed looking around at everything.

Here are a few random pics off of my phone:

I have been trying to see who James looks like, so I have been looking at baby pictures of Ryan and myself. Here are a few pictures of Ryan when he was little:

Such a little cutie

Here he is at ten weeks

Here are some of my baby pictures put next to pictures of James to see if we look alike:

I think James has Ryan's nose and maybe my head shape..? But it's hard to say. So I guess I didn't figure much out. We will just have to wait and see as he gets older.

That's all for now! See ya!

Life is Good

Everything has been going great, and it's a lot better now that I am getting James on a schedule/routine. With the wonderful guidance from the book The Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano and Lisa Abidin, I have gotten James to eat 4 times a day and wake only once during the night. We are working towards him sleeping through the night, and he is doing so great with the training. We have really been blessed to have such an easy-going baby, and I just hope that he continues to have this personality as he gets older :)

Ryan has been pretty busy working at the VA hospital, so we haven't gotten to see much of him in the past several weeks. I will be looking forward to July 1st when he starts his second year of residency! I can not believe that we are almost finished with his intern year. Where does the time go? The MCG/GRU Internal Medicine residency program held a dinner for the interns and graduating 3rd years, and it was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures from that night:

Ryan acting crazy while he receives his certificate from (left to right) his Associate Program Director and Director of the GRU Continuity of Care Clinics: Dr. Brown, Program Director of Internal Medicine Residency Program: Dr. Merchen, and his Associate Program Director and Director of the Residency Mentoring Program: Dr. Carson. I love this picture.

Here we are at the dinner. Ryan says that he had food in his mouth when the guy came to take this...

One of my best friends from Ole Miss came to stay with us, and we had a blast! Ashleigh just didn't stay long enough. I think I must have put her to work too hard :) She was a huge help, and James loves his Aunt Ashleigh.

She's a natural

She took this picture of me feeding him

We had a photo shoot, and I was once again reminded how hard it is to capture perfect pictures of a wiggling, squirming baby. I don't know how photographers do it. Thanks to Ashleigh, we were able to get some really good ones (in my opinion).

I love this picture of them together! So cute! We need to live closer Ashleigh. Move to Augusta please.

I also got to visit with one of my friends from St. Maarten, Katherine Ramp. She and her husband lived there while we were there, and her husband's grandparents are our next-door neighbors. Isn't it a small world? Anyway, she came for a visit, and our babies got to meet. Baby Henry is adorable, and I am so glad that we got to see them.
They are already buddies :)

The many faces of James

Always bright-eyed and bushy-tailed

Sooo I guess James looks like his daddy. Not sure how accurate this app is, but I tried multiple pictures of the both of us versus James. This is the highest percentage that I could get.. ha ha

We went to the Savannah River one afternoon. It was pretty hot, but it was peaceful and beautiful.

Ryan got to do a little fishing

James is the happiest after he eats, and I can always get some really good smiles out of him.

Happy baby

He has the cutest little smirk that he gives me sometimes, and it always makes me laugh. I am glad that I was able to capture it here. Notice his legs getting chunkier :)

That's all for now folks. Have a great weekend!
