Well I'm still pregnant.. sigh. But that's ok because we want James to come now when he feels ready. When Ryan made his vacation calendar last year, he requested to be off in April since that is usually when I have a week off for my students' spring break. It just so happened that this happened to be when James is due. So Ryan has been off all week, and it has been nice to have a "staycation" before James comes.
Ever since we moved to North Augusta, we have been hearing about Strom Thurmond lake- aka Clark Hills Lake. We looked into it, and finally decided to go check it out. It was awesome! It is a huge body of water, and it's only about 20 minutes from our house. Here is a link if you want to read about the lake: Click here.
Ryan caught a bass
I caught a tan
I was secretly hoping that my water would break while I was fishing because it would make for a good story, but no such luck.
Here I am on Tuesday taking my weekly "bumpie" picture.
Ryan has been wanting to make a vegetable garden for a long time now, and he finally decided to go for it. Neither of us realized how big of an undertaking this would be:
We have a lot of open, unused space that is basically just a hill/slope covered with weeds. It gets tons of sun, so we decided to turn this into two raised beds.
I forgot to take actual pictures, but I took a few snapchat pictures.. so I had to use those.
We had to buy a lot of soil and compost. Who knew that dirt was so expensive? Geeze!
It is finished!
Tomatoes and cucumbers
Onions, squash, okra, and banana peppers
Ryan talked me into going to the Major Rager (part of the Master's Tournament celebrations) last night which took place in downtown Augusta. I am so glad that we went because we got to see Gov't Mule play. Warren Haynes (of Allman Brothers) did not disappoint, and it was so fun to be at a concert again. I must say that I was not only impressed with Warren's guitar skills, but also very impressed with his flowing, luscious locks. It was like the wind was blowing just for him. :) I took a couple of videos:
Last but not least, here are some pictures of James's nursery. I was finally able to get everything up on the walls, and I couldn't be any happier.
Ryan's very talented cousin, Sarah Greenberg, painted a few pieces for me. Didn't she do an amazing job? The detail in each painting blows me away. What makes it even more special is the fact that James will have these special paintings that his cousin did for him! We love you Sarah! Thank you so much for working so hard on them. You are crazy-talented!
A big thank-you also goes to Meg Quigley for giving me her artistic advice and the awesome banners! You should be an interior designer. <3
Here are pictures of each painting up-close and personal:
I think this one is my favorite!
That about wraps everything up! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, and we will keep you posted in the days to come.
