Ryan's Surprise Birthday and the Snow!

 Ryan's 28th Birthday!
Randy and Cindy came to NYC to surprise Ryan for his big 28! It worked perfectly! I "took" Ryan to this delicious steak restaurant in Brooklyn, Peter Luger's, and when we walked in... surprise! There are Randy and Cindy! The look on his face was priceless! He never suspected a thing, and it was great! Peter Luger has been named the best steakhouse in New York City by Zagat Survey for 28 years in a row.. so needless to say, it was awesome. It is also very old and was established in 1887. We had the porterhouse steak, and it was perfect.

After our delicious meal and dessert!

Then for the next day, we went exploring in Greenwich Village. While we were there, we copied The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album cover. Here is the original:

I like ours better! haha

Here we are at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, which has a lot of history, especially with Ryan's family! His great-grandfather used to treat everyone to lunch there every Sunday. It was gorgeous! If you are interested in learning more about the hotel, here is a link:

In the banquet hall, which used to be the restaurant where Ryan's family ate. Isn't it gorgeous?

And here we are with the famous clock made of gold!

We had such a great time with Randy and Cindy. We got to go exploring, and we ate VERY VERY well! So much fun! Come back soon!

We also went out to eat for Ryan's birthday during New York's Restaurant Week. We went to The View Restaurant and Lounge which is at the top of the Marriott on Times Square- 48 floor up! The coolest part is that the whole restaurant moved in a circle, so you got a 360 degree view of the city. I think it made one full 360 degree turn every hour. It was awesome. The pictures don't do it justice:

It's better without the flash

We had a great time

I made Ryan a peanut butter pie for his birthday! I got the recipe off of Pinterest, of course, and it was very good. It was also low-fat and low-sugar.. so not-so-bad for you and Ryan couldn't even tell! :)

We are excited because more and more friends from the island are moving to NYC.
We met up with Lindsey, Anne, and Craig in Harlem and had dinner at this place. It was awesome. You know it's going to be a good night when there is a cute 94 year-old-lady at the next table celebrating her birthday!

Here are Lindsey, Anne, Ryan, myself, and Craig at this cool international place in Harlem. There was a D.J. there that played some fun, different music.

Interesting bridge in the subway.. kinda random, but oh well

The Big Snow.. a.k.a. Nemo
We weren't really sure what to expect for the "blizzard" coming, but we decided to get a few supplies just in case. We never lost power, and we stayed nice and warm. Here are some pictures of the snow.

(Here is when it was first starting)

Just starting!

On Saturday morning, we woke up to about a foot of snow. It was so pretty! We walked to a park that is just down the street from our house that has a huge hill. We brought our ghetto (but free) sled- a cardboard box to the hill and got down to business. Here are some pictures on the hill:

Ryan made a snow angel!

The Hill!

Covered in powder

Ryan tried to go in the deep part.. it didn't work too well

This is before a nice lady gave us a garbage bag to cover our cardboard. She clearly was a pro

So pretty

Cute little baby snow-bird thing

Here I am going down the bottom of the hill

Here is Ryan going.. We got more and more brave with each video

Ryan actually recorded this while he went down.. it turned out to be pretty good!

It was a lot of fun, and I am so glad that we got to enjoy it!

That's all for now!
