The holidays were amazing and very busy! I was able to go home to Mississippi for a little over a week, and I had a blast. Sadly, Ryan had to stay for his clinicals, but I came back on the 23rd to spend Christmas with him. Here are some pictures:
My friend from Ole Miss, Hope Covington, came to NYC the night before I left to go home, and I got to see her. We went to this awesome shopping market right on the outside of the park at 59th/Columbus Circle and Broadway. It was awesome to see her and shop around for Christmas gifts!
My brother and my dad at Newk's after church
My mom and me
I sure do love Newk's
Sadly, my cat that I have had for 11 years, Cleo, died while I was home. I was glad that I got to say goodbye, but it was pretty tough. I miss her so much!

We went to Rendezvous in Memphis for some delicious ribs!
My cute parents
Austin and his awesome girlfriend, Tori
Making silly faces
We took a picture in front of the sign inside
Here is a funny picture of my cousin, Laura Katherine, and me when we were little and at the beach in Destin one year for vacation. Can you tell which one I am?
I got to go to Jackson and see some of my family! Me, Tori, Austin, and Laura Katherine (now)
Closer one of us
My Uncle Jack, my Nanny, my mom, and my Aunt Janice- all siblings except for my Nanny of course! Don't they all look alike?
I got to see Mary Love while I was home!
Way too much fun!
It was definitely a different Christmas for both of us this year, since we did our own thing this year in New York. Ryan could only get Christmas day off, so we made the most of it. Also, our awesome family sent us tons of gifts, and we got to skype all of them. So, we didn't feel too far away. Here is one of the great gifts that I got:
I got a fabulous apron with built-in pearls from Ryan's Aunt Allison! I used it to make this delicious Chocolate Chess Pie. Eat your heart out! :)
After Christmas, one of my best friends from the island- Lyssa and her husband, finally made it to NYC for their STEP studying and clinicals! Where did we go?? Macy's of course! We ate lunch there in the basement because people keep telling me that it is a delicious place that not many people know about. It was pretty delicious. BUT MACY'S WAS SO CROWDED.

I can't tell you how many times I got a free "Feliz Navidad" show on the subway. Here is a little preview.
MaryAnn came to visit!
MaryAnn got this awesome job in Nashville, and they sent her to New York for her training. It worked out perfectly because we got to see her two nights in a row for dinner, and we got to do a little sight-seeing. Here are my pictures:
Times Square after a delicious dinner at Tony's
It's so bright!

I tried my panorama option on my camera.. not too shabby

Here are some cool collages that MaryAnn made:
See the one with her directions of how to meet us for dinner! So cute!
Times Square! It was surprisingly not very crowded- which was so nice
Ryan has been very busy doing his Psych rotation, and today is actually his last day- HALLELUJAH! In the mean time, we have been laying pretty low so that he can get some studying done. We have done a little bit here and there, and here are the pictures:
We went to Williamsburg- this cool, hipster part of Brooklyn. It was really fun to get out and experience a different part of the city with familiar faces from the island
This was a fun place that had old school arcade games, and you got a free pizza with your drinks. It was pretty awesome.
We did go to the Wharf Bar and Grill, a.k.a. "The Ole Miss Bar," to watch the bowl game. Here are some pictures of that night:
Kyle, my friend from Cleveland and Ole Miss, came to watch the game with us. We won! YAY!
Ryan and Kyle
We made a friend with another Ole Miss alum- Charlie Wildman (yes that's his real last name)
Look at the hilarious kind of ice cream that this place in the Greenwich Village/Tribeca area carries. There is even a unicorn...
Zach came to meet up with us. Ryan's face went a little crazy
We also went to B.B. King's on Times Square to hear some blues music- but it just wasn't the same as what we are used to. Plus it was expensive.. Story of my life here
So that about sums up what we have been doing lately. We do have some exciting news to report. Ryan and I found out that we will be moving to Baton Rouge, LA at the end of August for Ryan to do his Surgery rotation. We are both extremely excited about this. Don't get me wrong- New York is fabulous. It is exciting. There is always something to do. BUT it is very expensive, and we miss being closer to our friends and family. SO with all of that being said, we are coming back to the South! Praise the Lord! Seriously! So, I will have to keep everyone posted on this as we find out more information. I guess that also means that we have less time to complete our New York Bucket List. So, we better get busy, eh?
Ryan's birthday is this Monday, January 28 and he will be 28! It's his Golden Birthday as they say- since he will be 28 on the 28th. I guess I had mine when I was 10.. oh well. That's neither here nor there. Anyway, I am sure that we will have a great weekend, and hopefully we can do a little to celebrate his birth. I will try to not go so long without a post next time, but I feel like I say that on every one of these. It's just hard to commit to sitting down in front of the computer, when I have been doing that all day seeing these hoodlums.. just kidding. They are great!
Oh! I forgot to comment on how frigid it is outside. Seriously. Here is a picture to prove it:
Ok, 11 degrees- really? Also, if you look at the "Real Feel" which takes the wind chill into account, it was 1 degrees outside (or do you say 1 degree??)!!! I am so ready for it to get warmer. Even if it was 30 degrees warmer, I could handle it. Well, Ryan and I said that we wanted to live somewhere that was the opposite of St. Maarten. Well, this is definitely the opposite! Watch what you wish for...
Have a great weekend! I can't believe that February is already around the corner!
